Frequently asked questions

When I burn my candles, it has a high flame that is too big. What should I do?
Extinguish a candle if it smokes, flickers repeatedly, or the flame becomes too high. Let the candle cool, then trim the wick, check for drafts, and re-light. If the problem still persists, discontinue use.

What causes a candle to smoke? What can I do to correct it?

A well-made candle will create virtually no smoke when burning properly. However, if the wick becomes too long, or an air current disturbs the flame, small amounts of unburned carbon particles will escape from the flame as a visible wisp of smoke. Any candle will smoke if the flame is disturbed. To avoid this you can do following steps:
Always trim the wick to ¼-⅛ inch (about 5mm) before every use.
Be sure to place candles away from drafts, vents or air currents.

Why does my candle form a tunnel when it burns?

Tunneling  is when you get a thick or large amount of wax residue on the walls of the container because the wax did not melt all the way to the edge. To prevent tunneling, you should burn your candles for at least for two hours or till entire top becomes liquid.

How to remove melted candle wax from any material or fabric?

The first step is to do nothing - let the wax set before taking any action. Then you can remove the wax in many ways. The best to remove soy wax is to wash it with warm soapy water. More ways to clean spilled wax:
Give the stain a scrape. Take a knife that is sharp enough to do some damage to the wax, but not so sharp that it risks damaging the item of clothing.
Re-melt the wax. Place a towel under the item of clothing or tablecloth, then put two paper towels over the top of the wax stain. Set an iron at a low to medium heat and iron over the area. The heated wax will melt again, and come away from the fabric, soaking instead into the paper towel. Always be careful when using an iron

What do I need to know about candle safety?

Candles are safe when burned properly, responsibly and according to manufacturer's directions. Nevertheless, it's important to remember that a burning candle is an open flame, and thus a potential fire hazard if not monitored carefully.

Are 360Wishes candles’ fragrances phthalate free and paraben free?

All 360Wishes fragrances are phthalate free and paraben free. Phthalates are raw materials being used to dissolve in apothecary goods, medicine and fragrances. Recently there has been concern linking high levels of phthalates to health issues. Paraben is a common antimicrobial preservative used to stop nasty bacteria from infecting our everyday products. The studies show that long term using it can be harmful for the health. While there are no regulations against them being used in candles, we decided not to work with fragrances with phthalates and parabens in them.

Can the candle jar be repurposed?

Yes. When little wax remains (around 5-10mm (¼ inch)), discontinue use of candle. Place your candle in the freezer, and once the wax hardens, it can be chipped out along with the wick. If there is more than a little bit of wax left, we recommend the "oven method" - place your candle in a warm oven and allow the wax to liquify. Carefully dump and compost the wax out and wipe clean. Soap and water can then be used to remove the wax residue.
Give your empty candle jars new life - use to store pens, plant succulents in or just recycle.

Home Fragrance

My home fragrance is too strong. Is there anything I can do?

If you find that the fragrance emitted by your reed diffuser is too strong, simply remove some of the reeds. The less reeds you have in the bottle the slower the oil will dissipate throughout the room and the less potent it will be.

What should I do if I spill some home fragrance oil?

If the oil spills onto your table, dresser, floor or rug, you should clean it up quickly to avoid permanent stains. Use warm and soapy water.  If home fragrance is placed on a wooden surface, then we recommend using a mat or coaster. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

How long do home fragrance last?

There are many factors that determine how long home fragrance oils last, such as air conditioning, humidity, heating, draughts, direct sunlight, open and closed doors. In normal conditions, 360Wishes home fragrance oils last over 3 months.

How often should I flip the reeds?

The reed diffuser sticks can be flipped when you want an extra burst of fragrance or when you notice there is no scent. Some people choose to flip daily while others choose weekly. If you are satisfied with the scent flow - there is no need to do that. Be careful not to drip any as it can react with some surfaces. Be sure to clean any spillage immediately.

Can I re-use my home fragrance reeds?

We do not recommend the re-use of reed diffuser sticks, especially when you switch to a new fragrance.

Does 360Wishes home fragrance oils base contain alcohol?

Our diffuser base does not contain alcohol. 360Wishes home fragrance oils combines with fine fragrance oils (that are made of a blend of both naturally and synthetically developed ingredients) and eco-friendly base.
